HOW DOES the certification process WORK?
Please download Laboratory Exhaust Standard 24 by clicking the topmost right hand side sentence "Download Lab Exhaust Standard 24.". Laboratory Exhaust Certification, LLC, will be certifying and registering laboratory building projects that comply with the standard for exhausts connected to fume hoods. The Standard will go into effect February 1, 2017 after a period of public review. Please email your comments to us by clicking here.
Here is a brief summary of the laboratory exhaust certification process according to standard 24. The standard is applied to lab exhausts connected to one or more fume hoods. A registered consulting firm listed in standard 24 performs a safety assessment on those lab exhausts to be certified. In addition, there are some labeling requirements for the fume hoods and for the laboratory exhaust stacks. When the safety assessment is completed successfully and the labelling completed, Laboratory Exhaust Certification, LLC, registers the project and assigns a unique registration number.
